A public art project

By collaboratively creating awe-inspiring, highly visible oceans murals with renowned mural artists, youth, and community, the Migrating Mural Oceans Project fosters hope for climate resilience, creates an experience of agency, and invites connection to the coast for all.

Mural artist Jane Kim of Ink Dwell studio will launch her new Salmon Migrating Mural initiative by painting a two-story salmon-themed mural at Pillar Point Harbor. The mural will incorporate Jane’s interpretation of salmon art created by Hatch Elementary students.

Mural artist Ellen Silva and 4th grade students will design and paint an Oceans mural at Hatch Elementary School. The mural will incorporate art from Jane’s Salmon Migrating Mural as a part of the collaborative Migrating Mural Oceans project.

Art in Action Program & Hatch Parent Teacher Organization

In 2022, Hatch Elementary students learned about salmon, painted individual coho, and a collaborative art project raised funds for the Parent Teacher Organization (PTO). 

The PTO funded InkDwell’s design work for the Migrating Mural project. During Oceans Week 2023, students will contribute art to support Jane’s mural at Pillar Point.
